I have an Acer Aspire desktop with 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.67GHz processor and an NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS 1GB running Windows 7 HP. This is a brand new OS install as I just upgraded to a SSD and everything is running swimmingly except for Google Chrome. Video playback of any sort in Chrome (Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc.) will result in my CPU spiking to 95-100%, resulting in very choppy playback. I've tried HTML5 videos in YouTube with the same result, along with disabling the built-in PepperFlash plugin in Chrome.
The odd thing is that IE and Firefox play videos without a hitch - CPU never cracks 25% during playback and the video is seamless. I really do like Chrome as it's faster in all other aspects of web browsing, but this video problem is a dealbreaker.
