OneNote has some nice features, one of which is the ability to exchange information with Outlook. Is there a way to make OneNote automatically update? For example, if I create a spreadsheet in Excel, I can paste a segment into Word with "Paste Link" so that when I change my spreadsheet my Word document updates too.
However, it seems that when I link a contact to OneNote it takes a "snap shot" of the current record and pastes it into OneNote (with a link back to Outlook). However, if I then change a phone number in Outlook then the change does not propagate to the other side. That rather limits the usefulness of the links if I have to manually reconcile the data. Is there a way to enforce the integrity of linked fields or is it a one-time cut/paste (I think that is the answer :( ). If somebody from MS is reading this, it is a needed feature as is a link to tasks when dates get tweaked!
Also, why did MS in their wisdom not make a universal pool of tags, colors, and categories that you can share across applications? Since Outlook has changed emphasis to Categories, why can't I manipulate that from OneNote? And why aren't the color selections for Categories the same palette that is available in OneNote. Yeah, I know the tender sensibilities of some graphic designer would be bruised, but it gets confusing when you switch between the applications.
