Late bloomer to Windows 7, installed only a matter of days ago, yet it's fascinating the number of "Warnings" and "Errors" that pop up in these various sub folders in EVENT VIEWER. In XP, I was accustomed to checking "Windows Logs" only (e.g., Application & System). What I find curious about Windows 7 is how many of these so-called Events in "Applications and Service Logs/Microsoft/Windows" would likely go unnoticed by the less anal user...and maybe they should?
(1.) for example in the "Diagnostics-Performance" folder where I'm currently getting warnings and even errors regarding either my boot time or shutdown time NONE OF WHICH INDICATE "Degradation."
(2.) OR, in the "Bits-Client" which is warning me (this one only once!) about "The initialization of the peer helper modules failed with the following error: 0x80070032"
(3.) OR, four (4) times about various mysterious KNOWNFOLDERID issues, to wit, "Error 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder {b4bfcc3a-db2c-424c-b029-7fe99a87c641} with path 'C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop"
(4.) OR, the plenteous "Session "Circular Kernel Context Logger" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035" - THIS ONE ONLY WHEN I DARE LOG OUT OF A LIMITED USER ACCOUNT to log into an admin account.
With as much reporting as Windows 7 seems to do, looks like inquiring minds won't run out of stuff to worry about any time soon! What is a little unsettling though is how often tech-savvy folk recommend right out of the gate in response to these and similar troublesome events: "just run SFC/scannow blah blah blah"
I only just got Windows 7 SP1 installed days ago along with a huge barrage of Windows Update and they want me to go back to the original Windows 7 SP1 installation DVD? I know, I know, this can be very good advice at times? But now, I'm not so sure.
Of course at the end of the day I must say my system runs fine with no notice of even a hint of a problem. So maybe I should occupy my time elsewhere?
