I'm trying to help a family member with a Monitor issue. On a normal windows startup, the physical monitor has been having squiggles every now and then. Of course now that we're moving them off XP, the issue has become so bad that the system doesn't really ever complete booting - it seems frozen with some icons of their desktop displayed and others not. The system does not respond to the mouse.
In safe mode the system responds, but I can never attach remotely via TeamViewer and am walking an elderly person through screens trying to resolve the issue. I've had them go to Device Manager to "display" and ask for new drivers. The system response it that the newest drivers are installed.
I then wanted to look at updating the Monitor drivers, be device manager doesn't list "Monitor". Hmm, maybe this is the problem? How do I get the "Monitor" back into Device Manager when I cannot use anything other than safe mode? The user does not have any drivers on CD available.
