Hello
Have AT&T Uverse...Internet is Max Plus
Connection - hardwired all devices - two TV's, two gaming consoles, two BR players, Laptop (XP) and Tower HP m9500Z PC (Vista 64)
Issue - Internet connection to everything works and starts fine except the PC running Vista. It now takes to "find the internet connection" 15-20 minutes longer than before. Even the Laptop on XP connects faster.
This has just happened in the last few days. I have the PC (Vista 64) and Laptop(XP) right next to the Gateway in the same room connected by CAT5. But lately after the PC completes the boot process and I try to connect to the internet it won't connect at all. I run the diagnostic and says failed to connect to DNS Server. Try resetting the adapter.... I'll keep trying on & off a few times and about 15-20 minutes or so later it connects. No issue or sign of problem at all....as if nothing happened. Everything shows...Operating properly.
I have Avast (paid version) and have used it for ten years. I run defrag every week. I have Spybot, Malwarebytes and do HijackThis when I feel I need to. Avast shows nothing and cleaning out IE shows nothing out of the ordinary. I have automatic updates on so I know I'm up-to-date on Microsoft. There are no signs of issues in Device Manager.
The settings are fine or at least what I've checked in the Network and I haven't added anything new in the last few days software or hardware. The one thing I have noticed now is Avast doesn't even load as quick as before. My boot time is around 1 min-24 seconds. Avast would be almost the last to load and would instantly show up but now seems like a extra 20-30 seconds when the icon pops up showing system is on.
I posted this over at the AT&T Direct since I have UVerse but since everything else is working and the Gateway has no issue it appears to be Vista & Microsoft related (?). I just don't know where to look and look for....something that doesn't work off the bat but works fine later on.
