Assigning a Drive Letter

Not sure this is the right forum, but I think it's a Windows question. Running Win 8.1 and I have two external harddrives hooked up as well as the occasional USB flash drive. When I first hooked up these two drives, one was assigned K and one was assigned L, and my True Image backups go to those (daily ones to K and weekly ones to L). I was gone with the computer off for a week, and when I returned and turned everything on, K was still K but L became G, so the weekly backup failed. I changed the desired destination to G and it backed up, but I'm afraid this will happen again and again. Is there anyway to assign a drive letter to a drive that will remain EVEN IF I turn off that drive and plug in others? When I turn it back on, it would retain the assigned letter, and new plugged-in drives would never be assigned that letter even if the original was off? Am I even making sense? ;) -- The truth of a thing is the feel of it, not the think of it. -- Stanley Kubrick
