I have a situation in which I'm tracking down what is causing my machine's boot process to slow down.
The Windows boot splash screen will appear and then the screen will turn black and after about eight seconds the screen will then show the log-on screen. What I want to know is what the machine is doing during those few seconds when the screen is black.
My machine has an SSD as the boot process. The SSD is large enough to hold the OS and any and all related programs and drivers that are participating during the boot process. So if everything that is needed to boot Windows is located on the SSD why does it seem like the boot process is slower than it should be?
That's why I want to track what's going on during the boot process and see where the bottleneck is. How can I do this? This is Windows 8.1 by the way.
