I noticed that I had a Windows Live dll (WLIDNSP.DLL) allocated by Palemoon. That led me to finding out it was a "LSP", which is apparantly something that is inserted into the TCP/IP stack.
That led me to Nirsoft's WinsockServicesView which showed me this:
[ATT=1]
Now initially, all those icons were green. It is turning out I don't use/need the ones I turned red, at least so far. I am wondering what this "E-mail Naming Shim Provider", napinsp.dll, is about, and how it helps me.
The ones I disabled so far is Windows Live, LDAP and PNRP. I haven't heard of any use for PNRP so far so I don't need any of my processes allocating that dll. As far as LDAP is concerned, I'm guessing I need to be connected to a domain for that one to matter.
