The memory usage is good even with their debug tools running.
I haven't gone to any big trouble to do this either, took all the metro tiles off the start menu, and I even disabled the pagefile so it couldn't hide any usage on the hdd. This is inside a virtual machine where 3D acceleration is supported too.
The only software installed is Firefox, flash, and the vm guest utilities with other things like one drive disabled via the task manager.
I've watched having one tile on the start menu with live tiles off climb the memory usage by 120MB so if you really want to conserve memory for programs that really need it, ditch the metro tiles on the start menu.
