Media center choppy audio full screen

On one of my HTPCs I have been noticing that on some channels (it doesn't seem to do it on all of them or it's sporadic but it's often enough) if I have the media center window in full screen mode the audio is choppy and stutters badly. If I shrink it down to a windowed mode it goes away. The audio is HDMI to the TV and using the TV speakers. Haven't tried analog sound output but I suspect it's the same. It passes the digital cable adviser and plays 1080p h.264 encoded files in VLC just fine (also full screen). The system specs are Athlon II x2 250, 4GB RAM and a GTS450 video card. I loaded MSI Afterburner on there to monitor GPU utilization and it stays around 5% whether media center is windowed or full screen. The highest I saw it peak was ~40% and that was just a short while. All other points it monitors seem fine (CPU, RAM, VRAM, etc.). Google isn't too much help with this but I'm still looking. The system was just updated to the 350.12 drivers although I see 352.86 were just released two days ago so maybe I'll give those a try.
