Great so my desktop running Windows 7 can't use it unless I buy new CPU, motherboard and ram. Thank you Microsoft and after finding out save boot crashed the windows 8 laptop making it lose the product kept in the UEFI bios it made this news feel so much more like that salt rubbing deep in that still open cut.
Looks like Microsoft will have the new xp in Windows 7 after all and here I thought they learned from there stupidity.
Well M$ thanks for making me think about rushing plans to upgrade that hardware even though it can get by more than fine. I7 920, 12GB of DDR3 1600mhz ram and what was a nice motherboard other than the fact being 6 years old doesn't support UEFI.
I for one am disappointed at this requirement and will need to think about if it a good idea to take the "free" upgrade for that PC or not. Likely won't be missing much if Windows 8.1 is any sign and I dislike the latest pre-view build of Windows 10.
Does anyone else happen to have an older PC that doesn't make this requirement? Or does this have no impact on your upgrade plans?

If only the FCC set standards on what ISP's can do on customer level connection's with rated "upto" speeds, packet loss and down time.
