The hard drive died on my HP notebook computer. I've installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit home premium OS. Now I need drivers for the onboard NIC and onboard graphics.
In the past, on a different computer, we could simply enter the model number on HP's support page. The available drivers would then pop up on the screen for us to download and install. After that we could get online and reactivate windows.
Now however, on the other computer - the one used to get online to go to the HP support website - HP seems to want to scan that computer to see what drivers it needs rather than give us the drivers for the computer model we've inquired about. If we tell HP that we don't want to scan the computer we are on, that we want to go straight to downloading the drives we are sent to a page where nothing happens. That HP page seems locked in an endless loop. It's spent half an hour "looking for the drivers" and no results yet.
This happens with Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers.
So... the question is: given that I can't get online with the rebuilt HP notebook for the HP support site to scan, how can we get the drivers it needs?
