My lappy Gateway Turion XPPro (originally Vista) has been running extremely slow and believe the hard drive is the issue. Web surfing seems OK. but takes minutes to launch an app or anything needing hard drive info. Seeking agreement: seems the hard drive is failing.
Defrag 1st, which took >24hrs. viewed SMART info which revealed "pending Sector Count" error; Fitness 0%, Performance 97%
ran chkdsk/r which also took >24hrs and reported the following:
