[WIN10] How to backup free upgrade

I am running Win 7 Pro on two boxes, and have signed up for the free Win 10 upgrade. I note that the free upgrade is only valid for one year after Win 10 releases for those with a valid key. Both my boxes are Lenovo OEM installs with valid key stickers and factory recovery disks. So what happens if, in 18 months, I have to do a fresh install due to hard disk crash or something like that? I presume the key sticker that came with the computers is tied to Win 7, so what happens if I have to reinstall from the factory recovery disk and then want to re-update to Win 10 after the one year period is up? Is MS keeping track of which key codes have been upgraded and, if so, will it automatically authorize a reinstall for me? Or do I have to do something else to make sure I have a backup copy of Win 10? I have never seen this discussed in all the FAQs on Win 10.
