My update log shows six failed attempts at installing Win 10, going back to Tuesday evening. I do see a new hidden directory named $Windows.~BT with a size of slightly more than 3GB that seems to have all the necessary files, including one called SETUP.EXE. I presume this is the install / upgrade package.
My computer hardware is fully capable of running Win 10 and my HDD has at least 300 GB of free space. The present OS is a fully updated Win 7 Pro x64. The Lenovo web site seems to have compatible drivers available for Win 10, and I have no non-Lenovo supplied hardware installed so it shouldn't be a driver issue. In the last few days I have gotten other updates with no problem including a Lenovo hardware update for my LCD display, a MS update for x64 based systems (KB2952664), and the daily virus definition updates for MS Security Essentials so Windows Update seems to be working.
Do I continue to wait, manually run SETUP.EXE, erase $Windows.~BT to let update rebuild it from scratch, shoot my computer, or something else?
