Yesterday Windows 10 started silently downloading on my comp because I reserved a copy. There seemed to be no way to stop it-I should have canceled my reservation days before but forgot. I clicked on the icon in my taskbar and it said "win10 is downloading". I then clicked on the button to see the progress. Windows update popped up and it said all files were downloaded already-click restart button to start installation. I did not click the restart button and I shut down windows update. Then a notification popped up saying its ready to install-pick a date or install now. I do not want to do neither! They only gave me 3 dates-so I chose 8/1.
Now whenever I reboot windows update pops up saying "ready to install". I tried a system restore to the restore point before the download of win10 but it still happens-it does not wipe away the files it downloaded that I did not install yet and it goes back into the loop asking me to install the files ect. How do I stop this? I am also scared now I will not get any updates for win7 now because winupdate is in a state of wanting to install win10-it will not scan for any new updates for win7. I appreciate any help.
