I have recently become aware of how various startup items can affect boot times, especially Google Drive. After waiting over a minute for the splash screen to appear (after the Windows logo first appeared,) I reviewed my start up items (I had 6) and disabled everything except my password manager which shows a medium impact. I rebooted and the splash screen appeared in only 14 seconds. Cool!
This morning, with no changes from yesterday, after the Windows logo appeared, it took 1 minute before I saw the circle of spinning dots. It was another 10 seconds before the splash screen showed up. I confirmed that my start up items are the same as yesterday.
Any idea why boot performance would vary from one day to the next with no changes to the system? There is nothing in the event viewer under diagnostics-performance for today.
