I have a few movies in mp4 format on my PC that I used to stream to a wireless Sony Blueray player in my den. They would stream fine while I was on Windows 8 if I put them in the public video folder. After I upgraded to Windows 10, I can see the folder from my blueray but when I open the folder I get the message "No compatible format videos found" I can put the same video on my laptop running Windows 8 and it will stream and play fine on the DVD player. The videos are shared, but I don't think that's the problem since I get the message "incompatible format". I can copy the same movie from the PC to a flash drive, plug it into the DVD player and it will play fine that way, and in fact, that's what I'll probably continue to do.
I can't figure out why the same mp4 will stream from Windows 8 or play directly from a flash drive, but be incompatible when sent directly from the Windows 10 PC.
