My sister bartered for a HP Touchscreen desktop All-in-one. The problem is that it's a great machine, but the family that she bartered it from can't recall the Admin password and I have tried everything that I can to change the password, hack the password, or some how get the unit to work with out knowing the password. The family gave us like 4 different passwords to use but none of the seem to work, and it seems that when they set up the machine, they setup all users as Admins, so with out the password, there is no way to use the machine. My sister wants to use it for her son who is in grade school and they need to use it for school. She doesn't have the money to buy a new computer, and I would really like to get it working so that he can use it for his school work.
There was at one point a hidden Admin account, but it seems that this version no longer has it so I can't use the hidden Admin account to change the password. I also tried to use some program that should allow you to go into DOS mode in order to run a program that supposed to allow you to change the password as well, but it seems that they got rid of the ability to go into DOS mode as well.
I am at a complete loss as to what I can do to get the machine usable again. Does anyone know of any tips or tricks that would allow me to get into some kind of mode to change the Admin password or some app that would allow me to do this? I could really use some help here as we have no money to do this and even if we did, I wouldn't want to waste the money only to find out that it wouldn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
