It was a hair-brained scheme to begin with. They assumed that people wouldn't abuse it. Could they really have been that naive? Not that one terabyte of storage isn't a lot, but it shows extremely poor judgement on the part of Microsoft to put themselves in a position where they have to backtrack on a promise. I am only using around 250GB of my current 10TBs of storage which will soon drop to 1TB, so it has absolutely no effect on me other than to tick me off. They dropped placeholders in Windows 10 which was the one feature that product had that made it interesting. I think I read somewhere placeholders are coming back, but it is hard to get excited about something that Microsoft doesn't stand behind in any way.
