[Outlook] Difference Between Uninstall and Remove ???

Background ... using a retail (single user) version of MS Office 2010 Pro Plus in my home, running on Windows 7 SP1. Both Windows and Office are 64-bit versions. Due to problems that I have NO WISH to delve into or to debate with people offering advice, I am considering Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Office software. I have already tried a "repair" option to no avail. When I go to Control Panel / Programs and Features and highlight the Office installation I am given the options to Organize, Uninstall or Change and if I select the Change option it opens a new window running MS Office setup program (?) giving me various options including "repair" or "remove". As I have said. I have already tried a repair and my problems remain and that is why I am considering Uninstalling and Reinstalling from fresh. The question is - is there a difference between the Windows control panel option to uninstall and the option to remove presented by the MS Office setup program? If there is a difference, what is that difference and which option is recommended that I use. As a follow-up question - assuming I go ahead with the uninstall/reinstall, what is the best way to save my Outlook setup (custom views, emails, folders, etc). I have tried to research this and I find a bewildering array of suggestions on Google with most very confusing because each one gives slightly different instructions. Primarily, the differences seem to relate to either Backing Up and Restoring Outlook Files versus Exporting and Importing Outlook files. Any helpful suggestions as to how I should proceed would be welcome as would be links to articles that would be considered by most here as the DEFINITIVE set of instructions giving clear concise steps to follow if possible.
