We recently purchased a used laptop. The prior user was an admin in windows 7. That is to say, they had the normal admin account and their own account which was also an admin account.
We'd like to disable or remove the prior user's account and account name as it is causing problems of various sorts. Wrong name showing when we boot up, files misdirected to wrong location when downloading, and things like that.
I've gone to Users in Control Panel, but the prior owner's account isn't shown there. The prior owner's account is shown in windows explorer under "Users". There is an admin account (us) and the prior owner's name with some sort of image on it - perhaps a small lock. If it is locked, we can enter anyway, but we can't delete - at least I don't know how to do that.
So, the question is: How do we delete or remove the prior owner's name and user account?
