This ugly issue has reared its head on my spouses PC.
Windows 10 64bit, plenty of RAM, Intel I5 desktop.
MS WORD 2013 32bit
No addins/ons being used
Hardware acceleration off
Saving in background off
Default printer set to Microsft PDF and doesn't change by windows to latest used printer
Latest Windows Updates all applied.
Applied fix/repair MS_Office process.
We have lots of original documents from windows 97-2003 that are often used.
We had office 2010 on the older computer so most of these were upgraded to (.docx) format.
We switched to the new computer and upgraded the MS Word to 2013.
I have noticed that when working on these documents the CPU usage goes to 60% and for no good reason.
To assist, I have saved a blank word document in the older 97-2003 format (.doc) vice the newer (.docx).
This seems to work as the file does not burn through CPU cycles however we often lose formatting and thus its really not an ideal fix.
Can anybody explain what is going on and how to deal with this issue???
