Had a rollback from 10 to 7. Did the rollback with no issues, and the system is in 7 with no apparent errors, EXCEPT.
When you open Windows Update, it says "Restart your computer to install important updates" you restart, go back to WU, and the same screen. It never applies any updates, or goes through the motions of trying and failing, it just keeps repeating over and over. If you don't do anything, you get the pop up of "Restart to finish updates" with the timer or postpone option, which again, accomplishes nothing.
I've tried deleting the contents of the softwaredistribution folder, tried the windows update fixit (50202) and no change. Try to look at previous updates to see if one is continually pending, but there is nothing in the list. I've turned WU off, and it STILL shows that message. So I'm stumped here.
At least turning WU off prevents the popup message from coming up.
