I have a couple of issues with Win 10 security that I can't seem to figure out:
1. I have three mapped drives to other devices. One is a large NAS disk attached to my router that I use for backups (can never have too many of those) and the other two are folders on another computer that I need to keep in sync (via GoodSync jobs). The other computer is owned by another user and I have the user name and password needed to access the share (that computer is running the same build of Win 10).
I frequently lose connectivity even though the other computer is turned on 24 X 7. When I try to reestablish communications after I need a reboot, I am unable to do so without giving the user name and password even though I have checked the little box that tells Windows to remember the credentials. This all worked flawlessly for several years when both the computers were on Win 7.
2. I have a bunch of batch jobs that I need to launch overnight, and I used to do these via the Task Scheduler. Mostly these are simple maintenance tasks like CCleaner and running AutoHotKeys macros (compiled to EXE format). I have created tasks, set to run with the user logged in or not, checked "Run with highest privileges", the trigger is a specific time each day, I have "wake the computer" enabled, and have provided a valid password.
The tasks fail to run when scheduled (they attempt to do so but fail) and I am unable to run on demand either despite having that option toggled on.
3. Similar question to #2, I have batch files that I am unable to run even if I launch them with "Run as administrator". I am the only user on this computer (other than the ones Windows creates like TrustedInstaller and System), I have full rights to everything I can think of, and UAC is off. I have forcibly taken ownership of all the relevant folders so why won't it let me run these jobs? These too worked before upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10 so I suspect it is some security "feature" I am missing.
