I did some Win 7 and Win 10 installs lately (guess why ;) ) and here are the sizes of the Ghost images I created (no compression)
Win7 SP1 initial install: 7,635,960 kB
Win7 + IE11 + .net + all patches - all unneeded files: 21,391,610 kB
Win10 over Win 7, initial install: 27,263,630 kB
Win10 + all patches - windows.old - all unneeded files: 15,261,560 kB
removal of temp and unneeded files were performed by the built in windows utility.
So it seems that at this point in time Win 10 uses significantly less disk space.
