One of my PCs is unable to update itself to version 1511 of Windows 10. I've tried to do it through Windows Update/Windows Upgrade Assistant, and it starts off fine. It downloads everything, begins to install, but the problem occurs during the reboot phase. At that point, I get 2 choices. Not sure of the exact wording, but it's something like:
1) Windows Setup
2) Windows 10
Either one of them fails to proceed, because it looks like it's not booting to the right place. At this point, I actually have to go into BIOS and *change* the boot order for Windows 10, in order to get back into my working O/S.
Background note: I got this PC last summer from DELL, and ordered an SSD drive on the side. I immediately installed Windows 7 onto that SSD, and upgraded it to Windows 10 through the free upgrade. I made the 1TB internal DELL drive the secondary. And it does work as my "storage" drive, but I think something might have got messed up with the boot order/manager, since I can't seem to update to version 1511 of Win 10.
I know a decent bit about computers, but admittedly not a whole lot about the boot manager, and primary/secondary hard drives. Does anyone have any suggestions on where things are going wrong, or what I should try next to get the 1511 update to work? I'm not worried about data loss; I have all the essentials backed up, and am comfortable with an O/S reinstall if necessary. So any suggestions are welcome.
