Server 2008 Files still "Open" After user closes them.

I just upgraded one of our file server to 2008. Moved all of the important stuff over and the users are working of shared folders. My issues is the following. 1. User will change something in the folder, close out of all the files and then back out of the folder. 2. They will then try to re-name the folder or Move the folder to a new location and then they get an error telling them "Cannot ____ there are still files open". 3. I look on the User's computer, Adobe & Word are both closed (previously this was the issue). There should not be any links to the folder. 4. Log onto the server and look under "Computer Management>Shared Folders>Open Files> Find the folder and notice there is a ***.pdf open still on the server (or other file, mostly pdf. At the user, however everything is closed on their end..) 5. Close that file and everything is peachy.. they can rename/move it, what ever they need to do with the file. Originally when we had our files on a 2003 server with the same issue, i would close Adobe or Word and fix the issue 99% of the time. I have already disabled caching of thumbnail.db files, and i have turned off any file scanning on the end users computers and on the server. Now they scan daily to make sure nothing is on there. I've searched online, but everyone pushes me to using the Computer Management > Shared Folders > Open Folders > Close File walkthrough.. However I cannot do that 20 times a day. Question: Is there any way to have the end users break their connection to the server? Or is there a setting i can change that will have all the 'open' files check to see if they are still open ever minute? (It feels like the connections will break after 20-30 minutes if no one touches the folder, but by then they are 10-15 files down the line) Server Stats Dell Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64bit Intel Xeon E3-1240 x2 @3.40 32.0 GB -- Aelingil: I need to waste my time, my clients time and another techs time, just to fix a problem with you server & filters? Tech Joseph: Yes, you are correct.
