I do not know if this is an ISP problem, (quite possibly) or in the OS.
My computer is connected to my ISP by a modem. No need for a router.
Recently on occasion while online I will lose my Internet connection. Other than stuck on the last page loaded nothing else happens.
I will then run a Windows 7 trouble shooting diagnostic and it determines I cannot connect, (lost connection) because I do not have a valid IP address. Windows then "fixes" the problem through the trouble shooter. Bingo I'm reconnected without having to reboot or do anything in response.
Coincidently, and separately, when I first got TWC something like a couple of months ago I got an IP that apparently belonged to a former subscriber that just quit them or maybe just changed IPs with them. I don't know. Bottom line was in certain categories I was getting traffic or problems associated with that IP that clearly through investigation indicated "traffic" and issues being directed to that IP now my IP that was sent intended for the other person associated with that IP. I got the IP changed.
I only add the last part as it might be a clue to TWC being an issue.
