[WIN7] Scheduled tasks for Google and Adobe flash updates

I have a 6 year old laptop (Lenovo T61 with 8 GB or RAM, 2GHz dual core CPU) and want to optimize it a little bit. I found in Windows Scheduler that update checkers for Adobe Flash and Google applications are scheduled to run every hour. Is there really a need for them to run every hour? Or every day for that matter? If I change the schedule for them to less frequent - is there a chance it can negatively affect them? The only thing I can think of is that when update is run it can change the schedule back to original frequency.
