Basically I hastily setup this server physically and logically. I thought I understood it fairly well for my needs but I came up against a little problem involving Storage Spaces I'm not sure about.
quote:Server 2012 Essentials hardware:
Core i5 2500K / Asus P8P79 Pro
0 WD Red 2TB (OS non-Pool drive)
1 WD Green 3TB (Pool / Internal)
2 WD Green 3TB (Pool / Internal)
3 WD Green 3TB (Pool / Internal)
4 Seagate 3TB (Pool / Internal)
5 Seagate 3TB (Pool / Internal)
6 Seagate 4TB (Pool / Internal)
7 WD Red 2TB (Pool / External)
8 WD Blue 1TB (Pool / External)
9 WD Red 3TB (Pool / External)
By my count that would be about 25TB (not including OS drive, formatting or conversion) or about 22.7TB according to the OS.
The problem I'm having is that I cannot make the "Storage Space Size" at 15.5TB equal that of the "Total Pool Capacity" at 22.7TB. "Available Pool Capacity" is at 7.33TB which which is what I am trying to add to the existing Storage Space Pool. It will go up to 15.9TB but no further. I can allocate that 7.33TB to a new Storage Spaces Pool but thats not what I want.
I'm still trying to figure this out and the best I could come up with is that this is a feature of Thin provisioning whereby space would be dynamically added as needed. However, I dont recall setting it up that way nor do I know of a way to check such settings.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
