After I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I decided to create a USB Recovery Drive using the instructions from this link...
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive
Unfortunately the step detailed in last part of the procedure, ie. To create a USB recovery drive, failed because the Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive check box is selected checkbox is greyed out.
So I next went ahead and did create the basic USB recovery drive minus the custom image. When I tried to manually copy the image over to the USB drive it also failed because it said the CustomRefresh.wim file was too big to copy over. Hmmm....
Now I have looked at the MSFT Answers forums but no one, at least that I can find, has been able to successfully create the USB Recovery Drive. Please note this computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and does not have a manufacturers recovery partition which seems to be the key.
So the question is has anyone been able to create a USB Recovery Drive on a computer that does not have a manufacturers recovery partition? If so what was the procedure you used?
