Surface 2 prompts you for the BitLocker recovery key when you restart the device Symptoms When you use a Surface 2 device, you are prompted to enter your BitLocker recovery key after you turn on or restart the device or you resume the device from the sleep state. These messages may be random or they may occur every time that you try to restore the device to operation. Note These BitLocker-related messages are the only visible symptom. This problem does not affect your system in any other way. Microsoft is working on a solution that will be installed on Surface 2 devices through Windows Update. The planned release date is January 14, 2014.
