[IE] Upgrading to IE 10 from IE 8?

I am running Win7 SP1 currently running IE 8 with all the up to date security patches for IE 8. Now, if I install IE 10, what will happen to all the secuirty updates for IE 8? Will those updates be overwritten with the IE 10 security updates automatically during the IE 10 installation process? Please explain how this works? Or, will once IE 10 is installed, I will have to go back re-install the security updates for IE 10? Thanks
