a friend in california asked me if he takes advantage of the free upgrade when windows 10 comes out, what would happen to all his installed programs he uses all the time.
mid december he bought a new pc, and at age 79 it was ... a lot of misery for him. i helped as much as i could, including getting him to install teamviewer so i could go into his system and just do things myself. saves a lot of time and stress for him.
i warned him the win10 upgrade would likely mean going through all that again.
my own thought is the upgrade would actually wipe the drive and install win10 thus deleting all his personal programs (he reserves c: drive only for the o/s, no personal files).
but i've never done an upgrade; each time one of my pc's needed replacing, i'd buy another pc with a recent o/s.
so yes, it would wipe out his programs or
no, his programs will remain
