Have not touched a Win7 setup/migration in about 4 years so I'm really rusty.
Have an old Win7 i5 laptop (fully patched) with about 400Gb of apps, both paid & free but none from anything like an 'app' store - these were either installed from CD/DVD, or via a big download - Adobe Creative Suite type stuff......) and data (.doc, .xls, some Access databases, .ppt, etc.....) that I need to get to a brand new i7 laptop.
What tools exist to migrate apps (with license keys - ie. MS-Office, Adobe stuff, etc...) and all my user data to the new machine? Are there any 'gotchas' in this?
I gather that the most reliable connection will be a USB connection, though a network connection will work too. The old laptop only has USB2 ports, but both machines have GigE ports and my LAN is GigE.
Any thoughts/pointers about migrating the apps & data are appreciated.
