[WIN10] MS-DOS batch files do not close DOS window in Windows 10

Hello, I am running into an issue where MS-DOS batch files are running fine but not closing the DOS window after they have completed. The same batch files worked fine in Windows XP. Only after upgrading to Windows 10 where I'm seeing this problem. It is a NEW Windows 10 installation, not an upgrade from 7. The system is stand-alone, not part of Active Directory. The batch file has an EXIT command as the last line. I tried it with both the EXIT and without. No difference. I'm not sure what the issue is. Did Microsoft break DOS batch file execution in Windows 10?
