[WIN10] If I DON'T use Lock Screen Slideshow, it will cycle every 1 minute

If I change the lock screen to use a single picture, and pick one of the default Windows 10 pictures like the big ice one, then the lock screen will cycle every 1 minute. It looks sort of like it's trying to log in with no password, you see the box flash for a second, then the user's picture with the dots-in-a-circle animation under it for 3-4 seconds, then the lock screen slides back into place. I've gone through lots and lots of options in Settings and narrowed it down to using the Slideshow option to fix it. This is only a minor issue, but it ties the system up for 5-6 seconds every 1 minute, and you can't log in while this cycle is happening. I don't really want to use a slideshow, so I put 1 solid black pictures in a folder and selected that for now. It works, but I'd rather just have a static picture on my lock screen. Any other color than black and you see it fade from black as the slideshow moves the "pictures" around in the various animations and overlaps. Does anybody else see this kind of thing? Any ideas on how to fix it so I can use a solid picture again? I never had this issue on Windows 8 or 8.1. Sony Vaio Flip 15 laptop if it matters.
