I've been away from Excel too long and hoping someone can help clear the cobwebs....
I have a spreadsheet of a few rows and columns and that is no where the limit. I have a spreadsheet of expenses. The name of the expense is in Column C and is one of 4 types of expenses and the data is alphanumeric. Examples: Entertainment, Medical, Utilities, Food
I would like to have the formula calculate the total costs of Entertainment, Medical, etc separately. The costs are in column E and are numeric.
The above isn't what the actual data, I'm trying to simplify for the sake of all. For the following data, I want to have a total for Entertainment, Medical, Utilities, Food.
Entertainment 6.0
Utilities 100.5
Utilities 53
Medical 35
Entertainment 8
Medical 45
The totals should be Entertainment 14 Utilities 153.5 Medical 80
I've done these in the past with nesting logical and mathematical functions together but I'm not getting it right tonight.
What formulas do I want to use?
