I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why Outlook 2013 has recently slowed down to a crawl in Online mode connected to an Exchange 2013 server over higher latency links (we're talking 50-70ms here, not extreme latency). I am posting this here just as an FYI for anyone else who might be in the same boat. After all the usual battery of tests, I noticed Outlook worked fine in Safe Mode but went back to slow in normal mode, so I disabled the add-in's one by one and the last one was the Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook. Disabling it restored Outlook to snappy performance, re-enabling it made things slow once again. I had recently updated it to the latest version and that's when the trouble started, although I didn't put 2 and 2 together because I wouldn't have expected a junk mail reporting add-in to kill Outlook online mode. Apparently Microsoft's new lack of QA strikes again.
