[WIN7] New Monitor and Windows clash--Twilight Zone

My Windows 7 64 bit hates my brand new Viewsonic VX2770Smh-LED 27 inch monitor. When Windows boots up it boots not to the desktop but on the monitor just to the wallpaper. However, Windows appears to be running “behind” the wallpaper. I just don’t access to it since I don’t have any icons or task/tool bars. Just wallpaper. The only way to get to Windows is boot up in Safe Mode then shut down. Power up again and you are in. Windows installs two drivers for the monitor. Sometimes they are the same version of a driver sometimes they are two different drivers. Either way they do not affect the performance of the monitor. But you cannot get fixed it so there is only one driver, whatever version or source for the monitor. If you delete one of the drivers next time you successfully boot into Windows with just the one driver it treats the monitor as new hardware and installs the second driver. The most recent and current Viewsonic driver for Windows was installed via Windows update as an optional update and it appears in the program list in the control panel. You cannot remove/delete the update from either Windows Update, presumably because it was an optional update—just critical updates are presented for the option to remove/delete update. Yes Flash Player is properly installed with the latest version. The monitor is properly installed or hooked up to the computer. Finally if I disconnect the new monitor with the previous older smaller Viewsonic LCD monitor I don’t have any of the above problems. Nada. Zip. Zero.
