Dell PowerEdge SC 420
Windows XP Pro with all recent service packs
Unit has aftermarket video card
On board factory video chip disabled via Device Manager
BIOS video set to "AUTO" to find the aftermarket video card
All worked well for years this way
Today I switched the video in BIOS to "PRIMARY" *
Now I have no video
System disk boot - no video
Recovery disk boot - no video
Boot utilities disk boot - no video
I need your advice to turn this boat anchor back to viable computer. I know it's an old dawg, but good enough for my work bench.
*A little back story - I was trying to repair a MBR Error 3 issue with the Console. The attempted boot to Console via the OS disk kept giving me video problems, hence the switch to video = "AUTO" in BIOS. I neglected to re-activate on-board video chip via Device Manager prior to BIOS change to the BIOS change, which I believe is causing this black screen dilemma.
More backstory - when I boot this machine it takes me to MBR error 3 territory = F1 to boot anyway, or F2 for setup.
Thanks for reading, if you got this far. ;-)
