Metaphorical gun to my head is forcing me to demote myself from Geek on XP Pro to a new Win8 machine soon (it's shipping Monday), and I'm totally at sea. Yes, I've read all the basic guides to using Windows 8 so I'll probably be able to navigate around, but I'm still very unsure about how to network with our XP Pro machines (no HomeGroup with XP) and the nuances of getting my many XP daily applications to work with Win8 without jumping through hoops each time, and other usability issues, as well as security concerns. I had hoped there would be Windows 8 FAQ here with links to some of the more advanced guides (once you master the ugly metro and getting to your desktop, etc.) but the list of FAQs stops at 7.
I'm sure this has been asked ages ago and I'm just not finding it here, but any suggestions for a very computer-savvy but Win8-ignorant guy very sad to see XP Pro go ;)? (Suggestions other than the usual one I've been getting which is don't get Win8).
