We have a Samba server with read-only shares of music and video, and access them from a Win 7 client in the livingroom.
I'm on the Win 7 now and a directory in one of the shares is showing 341 files and 4 subdirectories. The problem is, only one subdirectory and one file are present on the server! The rest used to be there and have been deleted for a long time. Yet apparently, everything that's ever been there continues showing up indefinitely.
Trying to delete the excess files gets an error message, which is appropriate because it's a read-only share. But the files must be present locally, because as noted they're no longer on the server. They can still be opened - images can be viewed in Irfanview, etc.
How can I make the local directory agree with the server?
